Find out how to prepare for your Ultrasound with the Ultrasound Exam Preparation

Ultrasound imaging, also called Sonography, uses high frequency sound waves to obtain pictures of internal body areas. Current devices enable information to be obtained “real time” so that movements can be demonstrated, and precise information about blood flow can be obtained with the use of Doppler technology. Since ionizing radiation (X Ray) is not used, this modality is particularly appropriate for evaluation of the fetus (Obstetrical Ultrasound) and the pediatric patient.
